Modern Slavery Statement

Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement

This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made on behalf of Man and Van Stepney. It sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We recognise that modern slavery is a serious crime and a violation of fundamental human rights, and we are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings.

Our Business and Supply Chains

Man and Van Stepney provides local and regional transport, removals, and associated services. Our activities rely on a network of suppliers and subcontractors who may provide vehicles, fuel, equipment, storage facilities, and labour. We understand that risks of modern slavery can arise in logistics, temporary labour, and outsourced services, and we are committed to identifying and addressing those risks.

Zero-Tolerance Policy

We operate a clear zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking in any form. This applies to all persons working for or on behalf of Man and Van Stepney, at every level of our organisation and throughout our supply chain.

No commercial objective justifies the use, or the suspected use, of exploited labour. If we identify any credible risk or instance of modern slavery, we will take immediate and decisive action, which may include terminating contracts, reporting concerns to the authorities, and supporting affected individuals where appropriate.

Supplier Standards and Audits

We expect all suppliers, subcontractors, and business partners to share our commitment to preventing modern slavery. Our approach includes:

Requiring suppliers and subcontractors to confirm that they comply with all applicable laws relating to modern slavery and human trafficking, and that they operate fair and safe working practices. Assessing the risk profile of key suppliers, with particular attention to sectors and locations where the risk of modern slavery is higher. Conducting proportionate checks and audits of higher-risk suppliers, which may include requesting evidence of policies, procedures, and workforce practices, and, where appropriate, site visits. Reserving the right to end relationships with any supplier or subcontractor that fails to meet our standards or refuses to cooperate with our due diligence processes.

Employee Awareness and Responsibilities

All staff, including drivers, coordinators, and managers, share responsibility for upholding this Modern Slavery Statement. We aim to raise awareness among our people so they understand what modern slavery is, how to recognise warning signs, and how to report concerns safely and responsibly.

Managers are responsible for ensuring that recruitment and onboarding practices are fair, transparent, and compliant with relevant labour laws, and that no worker is charged recruitment fees, coerced into employment, or denied access to their identity documents.

Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing

Man and Van Stepney encourages anyone who has concerns about modern slavery or unethical labour practices connected to our business to speak up. Concerns may relate to our own operations, our suppliers, or any third party acting on our behalf.

Reports can be made to a manager or senior member of staff in person or in writing. We will take all reports seriously, investigate them promptly and sensitively, and maintain confidentiality as far as is reasonably possible. We do not tolerate any form of retaliation or victimisation against a person who raises a concern in good faith.

Continuous Improvement and Annual Review

We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing process. Man and Van Stepney is committed to reviewing and improving our policies, risk assessments, and supplier due diligence on a regular basis.

This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least once every year by the company leadership. As part of this annual review, we will evaluate the effectiveness of our measures, consider any incidents or concerns raised, and identify further steps to strengthen our approach. Updated statements will reflect any significant changes in our business operations, supply chain structure, or relevant legal requirements.

This Statement represents our current position on modern slavery and human trafficking and our commitment to responsible and ethical business conduct.
